The White Cervil

Beads black as night,

Eyes dilating with the light,

My guardian spirit is a cat

That looks past the future

When it sutures

The chain it forged

For me to grasp

As I traverse through

The universes two

Of chaos and order.

Silently following my tracks,

My guardian spirit shines a holy white,

A feline wisp of satin graceful and bright.

It shields me with its tail

And its intent to never fail

In its mission to keep me calm and secure,

Forever abiding by the solemn warning

Of a deity that falters but never fractures.

When I fall,

It leaps to catch me,

Reassuring me through it all

As it gazes at the horizon,

Awaiting the next squall.

Bound to the Earth by its own volition,

My guardian spirit leads the way,

Its footprints a glowing gray

For me to follow through the friction

Of uncertainty and depravity,

Overwhelming in its art

Yet divine in its gravity.

I do not know its reasons

Behind its loyalty throughout the seasons.

All I know is that

My guardian spirit is a cat,

A feline wisp of satin

Gazing from the stars

To shield me from the sorrows

Of many yesterdays and countless tomorrows,

So I can smile for one more day.
